Abstract
The no-load steady-state performance of a Y-connected three-phase induction generator under single-phase operation is studied, and the effects of combination between balance capacitors and excitation capacitors on the terminal voltage are analyzed. The loop impedance equation is obtained by employing the symmetrical component method. With both real and imaginary parts of the loop impedance equal to zero, the steady-state equation is deduced. The direct search method as a kind of optimization method is used to solve the equation, which is simpler and more effective than Newton-Raphson method. The results show that the no-load voltage is more sensitive to balance capacitance than to excitation capacitance. The agreements between the calculated results and the experimental results verify the accuracy of the presented method.
