Abstract :
The flux reversal machine is a new brushless doubly salient permanent magnet machine proposed with the same aim of combining the advantages of the SRM and the PMM into one machine. Operation principle of flux reverse motor is similar to permanent magnet brushless DC motor. The three phase flux reversal machine has robust structure, low electrical time constant, good torque density is well fit for low power direct driven wind power generation. This paper is devoted to a comprehensive design of a novel doubly salient permanent magnet three phase 6/14 poles FRM. This paper calculates the basic parameters and proposes a fast and simple method for the study on end effect of FRM. On the basis of above analysis, the electromagnetic performance using 2D and 3D finite element analyses are compared and a leakage factor reflecting end effect is defined to modify the 2D predicted result, which avoids the time consuming computation workload of pure 3D FE analysis.
