Abstract :
This paper describes driving characteristics of the electric vehicle (EV) operated by the position sensorless controlled switched reluctance motor (SRM). Assuming the phase inductance waveform to be a sinusoidal one, the space vector of the phase inductance in the SRM can be defined, and the rotor position can be obtained from the phase angle of this space vector. Starting, low speed driving, and other characteristics are shown in this paper. These experimental results show that the EV operated by the SRM using the proposed method is useful.
