Abstract
This paper deals with the control of a three-stage excitation brushless DC generator in aircraft power supply application. The voltage regulating system adopting traditional PI control algorithm is analyzed and the results show that the transient performance is not perfect enough. To avoid great voltage perturbation during abrupt power variations processes, a PI control algorithm based on excitation current feedback is proposed. Besides, to cope with speed variations, a speed feedforward compensation method is proposed to reduce voltage disturbance. The simulation and experimental results show that the control scheme proposed is effective to improve the dynamic characteristics of the regulating system.
