  • Abstract
Linear motor vehicle with linear induction motor (LIM) propulsion and without magnetic levitation has some obvious advantages for urban application. The LEVI is an important subsystem of the vehicle, the experiments are important for designing, optimization, operating and evaluation of the LIM. The experimental method of linear induction motor for urban mass transit is presented in detail in this paper. The model linear motor, experiment platform and the analysis of the experimental results are given in this paper too. The validity of the presented method is shown by the results of a model LIM, which is installed on the vehicle. The test data can be great helpful to the designing, optimization, operating and evaluation of the LIM for urban mass transit. And there is important reference for the experiment of other type linear motors.
