Abstract
This paper shows performance study of three phase induction motor having rectangle stator core in order to decrease material cost, and propose appropriate rectangle design parameters not affecting motor performance. Magnetic saturation effect in the rectangle stator core and unbalanced three phase currents by this deteriorate performance of induction motor like efficiency, power factor, torque and torque ripple, etc. Therefore, loss and magnetizing current analyses are performed according to cut-depth of rectangle stator core by using FEM. Finally we propose lamination method of rectangle stator core and analysis method of the model. For the verification of simulation results, we experimented on losses and currents of induction motor.
