Abstract
This paper presents a new family of ZCS-PWM DC-DC converters with active edge resonant cell. The active edge resonant cell discussed here has auxiliary diodes for suppressing parasitic voltage and current ringings at the commutations of active switches in the DC-DC converters. The voltage surges together with the parasitic ringings can be eliminated effectively in the active edge-resonant cell owing to the clamping diodes. Therefore, voltage ratings of the active switches can be drastically reduced as compared to the classical active edge resonant cell, and consequently conversion efficiencies as well as energy utilization are improved in the DC-DC converters. The practical effectiveness of the proposed active edge resonant cell for the proposed ZCS-PWM DC-DC converter topologies is demonstrated by means of experimental verifications based on a 40 kHz -1.6 kW laboratory prototype of the ZVS-PWM boost DC-DC converter.
