Abstract
This paper describes an improvement method of power quality of electric distribution system using matrix converter. The matrix converter makes it possible to improve the power quality of the consumer distribution system by suppressing voltage fluctuation on the consumer side without transformers. However, as the matrix converter deals with single-phase load in the system, input current harmonics are generated. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce of input current harmonics. In both case of balanced load and unbalanced load the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation. The proposed method contributes reduction both THD and unbalance factor of input current.
