Abstract
A pattern design system is proposed, to encourage average persons to design patterns on their apparel by themselves. The system firstly acquires video images, then constructs tiling, finally maps the tiling to some certain shape of apparel and displays it. This process is configured by users through GUI. The system allows generating patterns from everyday objects by simply shooting the objects. The interaction with the system was praised to be interesting. The generated patterns were multifarious and funny. The system also achieved WYSWYG-what you see is what you get.
