Abstract
The small- and medium enterprise (SME) in China contributed over 60% of GDP in 2008, mainly in manufacturing industries. The world factory was named on behalf of these Chinese SMEs. China remains the world´s fastest-growing major economy. Times Magazine has asked the question, “Who deserves the credit?” The ten of millions of workers who have left their homes, and often their families, to find work in the factories of China´s booming cities, was nominated the Runner-up of People of the Year in 2009. However, the raising wages, land costs and living standards in those cities will challenge the effectiveness of the SME. The continuous growth of China economic reform is very much depending on the competitiveness of the local efficacy, hence the government proposed industrialization and information technology (IT) integration policy to support local industries to deployment information system (IS) in order to improve the productivities of the industries. The western experience in IT/IS deployment will be questioned to imply in China market due to the different management systems and the cultural aspects. The study of IT/IS deployment in SME will become a critical missions for the industrial and academic experts. This paper will discuss the insights of the effective IS deployment in SME with Chinese context.
