Abstract
Use of six phase induction motors for industrial drives presents several advantages over the conventional three phase drives such as improved reliability, better torque ripple reduction, optimized rotation accuracy and reduction on the power ratings for the static converters. Usually, six phase supply is not available. In this paper a system is proposed that generates a six phase supply from single phase supply using ASIC implementation for controller. Thus this system may be used very effectively in the places, situated far away from cities, where only single phase supply is available. Verilog HDL is used for developing the RTL of the control logic and RTL to gate level synthesis is done using readily available MOSIS 90nm standard cell library.
