  • Abstract
A simplified activated sludge model (SASM) was proposed, which based on the activated sludge model No.1 (ASM1). This model describes the carbon oxidation process, nitration process and denitration process. The amount of components and processes of the SASM is fewer than that of the ASM1, so the practicability of the SASM is enhanced. Using the SASM to simulate the DMBR by Biowin, the results showed that changing the proportion of Non-colloidal slowly biodegradable (Fxsp) and Unbiode gradable particulate(Fup), the model value of COD was almost same to the experiment value, the deviation was about ±8%. The autotrophic decay rate(bA) and heterotrophic organisms maximum specific growth rate(μH) increased, which could model the morphological changes of nitrogen in the effluent from DMBR, the deviation of ammonia and total nitrogen were ±23% and ±12%, respectively.
