Abstract
A general analysis for the improvement of anti-contact fatique of bearing steel by ion implantation is provided in this paper. Some items such as the increase in surface micro hardness and residual compressive stress, the change in height and shape parameters of surface roughness as well as the change in auto correlation function and power spectrum reflecting the mathematic statistical characteristics of surface topography are revealed. Results indicate that the surface characteristics and processing parameters play an important role in anti-contact fatique. This improvement of anti-contact fatigue is attributed to form new nitride phases, right surface topography and residual compressive stress during implantation process.
