Abstract :
In recent years, traditional methods of operation in security situations have undergone a major shift. With the ending of the Cold War and the realignment of world power, resources once available for security concerns have scaled back or eliminated. As manpower allocations are reduced, new approaches are necessary to compensate for this loss. In addition, with the shift from superpower confrontation to local/regional conflict, response assets have become highly mobile. This creates a new requirement for the physical protection of those items. In response to these changes, Racon Inc. has successfully commercialized a physical security sensor addressing these issues. Easily installed by unskilled personnel, these sensors utilize advanced technology to compensate for reduced manpower levels. In addition, their portable design and multiple modes of application allow them to travel with response assets, rapidly providing the physical security formerly found only in fixed locations. This new generation of physical security systems sets a new benchmark in life-cycle price-performance value
