Abstract :
This paper presents a compact coupler that consists of novel planar resonators suitable for wireless power/data transfer (WPT) systems using a resonant coupling technique. The couplers for WPT systems are required to be as compact as possible, and to be less sensitive to their misalignment. The presented planar resonator has almost the same wideband transfer characteristics as the equivalent circuit of the band-pass filters (BPFs), which is suitable for high-speed data transfer. The demonstrated circular coupler exhibited a transfer efficiency of more than 80%. The proposed planar coupler will provide design flexibility for WPT systems.
