Abstract
The existence of mutual coupling effect has been well known in the antenna array and array signal processing society. Most work on mutual coupling compensation has been in the area of direction finding and not much work has been contributed to near-field beam focusing and imaging. In this work, the problem of mutual coupling and its effect on a near-field beam focusing application is investigated. Preliminary results show that the intensity level of the focusing electric field increases when the mutual coupling effect is properly handled.
