Abstract :
In this paper, a novel chipless RFID tag is proposed as an alternative of a barcode. The proposed tag consists of receiving/transmitting antennas and a bandstop resonator. The transmitting and receiving antennas of the tag are wideband tapered monopoles. The bandstop resonator is used to generate identification (ID) for a tag. The bandstop frequency can be adjusted by changing the cutting position of a resonator. It uses spectral signatures to encode data and has a data capacity of 3-bits within 2 ~ 2.7 GHz frequency range. Even though the proposed tag has low data capacity, it is suitable for low-cost item tracking system.
