Abstract :
This paper describes the development of Electronics & Telecommunications Remote Laboratory (ETReLa) project and its specific application into radio frequency (RF) field. The rapid growth of modern wireless communication systems requires more RF experimental experiences of students and engineers in RF field. However, RF instruments are probably the most expensive equipments in electrical engineering area, and it is hard to use those easily. The remote RF laboratory based on the web and internet technology is very cost effective and safe method to provide real RF laboratory experience. The ETReLa has been developed to provide more than 10 measurement equipments in remote environment with booking system. LabView is used for the remote user interface and experimental control. The small and medium size enterprises and university labs have used ETReLa to test components and systems used in communications. The ETReLa platform including analysis engine for RF transmitter and RF power amplifier (PA) characterization is developed to provide not only measurement raw data but also analysis results such as AM/AM, AM/PM, memory effects, transmitter efficiency, PA optimal bias condition etc. The developed remote lab with the application is sophisticated lab for students and engineers in RF field.
