Abstract
We describe here a Finite Difference approach to the mode evaluation for an elliptic waveguide. The use of 2D elliptical grid allows to take exactly into account the elliptical boundary. As a consequence, we get an high accuracy, with a reduced computational burden, since the resulting matrix is highly sparse.
