Abstract :
This paper presents a new mathematical optimization model to determine the transformer capacity, conductor size and number of transformers and substations in an electric distribution system, in consideration of its special characteristics. In the model, many aspects of the operational and maintenance costs of the electric distribution system are considered. The principles of distribution network planning are discussed based on the proposed model in the paper. A genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem with all constraints respected. The results of a computational example suggest the effectiveness of this proposed method.
