Abstract :
The network topology in an ad hoc network is highly dynamic due to the movement of the nodes, hence mobility is a major constraint in designing routing protocols for them. Apart from mobility, the other major constraints are bandwidth and resource availability. In literature many routing protocols have been proposed for ad hoc networks. This paper focuses on designing a routing protocol for GPS enabled MANETs namely Hybrid Location aided Routing Protocol for GPS enabled MANET Clusters(HLRP). Using cluster based routing protocol the nodes are divided into clusters. Packets are routed between the clusters using the location information of the nodes. Simulations are performed using NS2 by varying the mobility of nodes as well as the number of nodes. Results illustrate that the proposed algorithm performs better compared to various routing protocols such as CBRP, LAR, and LACBER in terms of end to end delay, control overhead, and packet delivery ratio.
