Abstract :
A method is proposed to solve the unconstrained optimization problem related to the design of perfect reconstruction modulated filter banks. The basic idea is to take advantage of certain attractive properties of the angular parametrization of the underlying lattice structure. This approach allows the design of prototypes with thousands of coefficients. Nearly optimal results are presented for two different optimization criteria.
