Abstract :
This paper presents a new approach for blind equalization of communication systems with channel coding. Based on the Channel Independent Viterbi Algorithm (CIVA), the new method performs blind sequence detections applying the information of channel coding. Specifically, the trellis searching can be simplified by considering the linear block channel encoder. The joint CIVA-based detector/decoder not only preserves the advantages of CIVA in blind equalizations, but also reduces its complexity. In addition, the integration of the traditionally separated equalizer and channel decoder into one component is also promising for system cost reduction.
