Abstract
Electric mobility is becoming an important topic in Germany and many other countries. Many different companies try to participate in this new market. Therefore, standardization of interfaces and processes is very important in order to ensure compatibility and to enable roaming between different providers of charging infrastructure. The most important issues besides technical standardization of for example plugs, are a scheme for unique identification of vehicles and a method for retrieving information on the roaming endpoint for a specific electric vehicle or user. In this paper, we propose an ID scheme called Energy Name Service ID (ENS-ID). It allows for unique identification and integration of other identification schemes while being flexible and easily extendable. We also suggest a DNS-based system for retrieving information on ENS-IDs. Together these two elements build a sound basis for enabling and standardizing roaming for electric mobility.
