Abstract :
A treadmill control system has been designed for biomechanical studies of wheelchair propulsion. An integrating force to speed control system incorporates an algorithm for simulating the mass of a wheelchair and its rolling resistance. The system has been shown to provide a more realistic simulation of real wheelchair propulsion than the conventional method of using a fixed treadmill speed.
