  • Abstract
We have developed a system for the recording and analysis of extracellular data acquired through a single micro-electrode. The system was build in a modular fashion in order to be easily configured to virtually any possible arrangement of multi-electrode array. Real time analysis of acquired data including calculations of statistical measures of spike trains is feasible, given a short pre-processing time. Reliable separation of activity of up to five units is possible, depending on the characteristics of the microelectrode used [1]. Therefore, application of the system to any recording apparatus will enhance its power by a factor of two to five.
