Abstract
A therapeutic ultrasonic focusing probe, operating at 7,31 MHz, is described. It is able to produce in a focal zone <; 1 mm3 an acoustic intensity (time averaged spatially averaged) up to 1500 W/cm2. Applied in vitro, it shows its ability to induce thermal damage lesions with temperatures of about 70°C under appropriate exposure conditions.
