Abstract :
Balloon configuration and control scheie are iiportant for the optimization of the assist to the failing heart Kith IABP. In this Hork, the configuration of lulti-chaiber balloons and their control scheies have been investigated by using a heiodynaiic lodel and computer simulation lethods. Results show that the optiial configuration and controlled lulti-chaibered balloon can provide better assist to the failing heart. Based on the coiputer simulation, it Mas found that the shape of the rear chaiber in lulti-chaibered balloon is critical. The optiial control scheie for this rear chaiber should be to inflate it first and deflate it last.
