Abstract :
This paper deals with the expert system Cavcav developed in the framework of a joint project between our laboratory and the Alexis-Vautrin Center for Research about Cancer (CAV). The system has been designed as an aid for treatment planning in external radiotherapy. It covers the three phases of cavum cancer treatment. The main idea is in the role of reasoning techniques and of image as a support for information in the process of medical decision making. The system has been connected to the radiation dose computation system existing at CAV and has been validated with previous cases.
