Abstract :
A model has been proposed to localize possible lesions in the brainstem using the results of neurological tests applied to a patient. Test results reflect functioning or malfunctioning neural pathways involved in the outcome of the tests which are applied and are then recorded into the fundamental database. Previous studies utilized Monte Carlo simulation and deterministic modeling to estimate lesion probabilities. In this study we introduce the notion of a lesion impulse suitable for modeling the evolution of lesions in the brainstem and capable of incorporating key patient and symptomatic attributes for enhanced diagnostic forecasting.
