Abstract :
This paper describes the development and analysis of a human-aided supervisory adaptive control system and its application to a representative drug delivery system. This system will control both anesthesia and the infusion of multiple drugs to control simultaneously depth of anesthesia and several hemodynamic states. Whereas many hemodynamic states are directly measurable, a neural network based procedure is developed for measuring anesthetic depth. Fuzzy control concepts are used for anesthetic control, while an expert system will be used to select the proper (adaptive or fuzzy) controllers for the drug infusion rates.
