  • Abstract
    An equilibrium theory of biomembranes with particles in their channels which takes into account "bilateral" channel-particle interactions has been proposed. The channel conformation changes to minimize the system free energy, which includes the channel\´s elastic free energy and the ion-channel repulsion, to give rise to bifurcation of the equilibrium state.
