            Abstract :
A paperless home measurement monitoring system has been developed for patients who have undergone lung transplantation. Respiratory, vital signs, and symptom data are recorded each day on a specially designed electronic spirometer/diary device. Data is downloaded to the data center computer once each week. The system is designed to detect the earliest signs of opportunistic infection and chronic rejection, the two greatest concerns for long term survival. The program has been well accepted, is easy to use, and provides data which is comparable to that collected during clinic visits.
