Abstract
This work describes the methodology used in the development of an expert system to assist the medical diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmic conditions. The first electrocardiographic (ECG) signal processing stage gets the parameter values that describe the ECG: amplitude, duration and shape of the different waves. Then we perform the characterization of the ECG and generate the knowledge-base of cardiac arrhythmias, according with rules from the Minnesota Code. Finally the diagnosis of the cardiac pathologies is obtained.
