Abstract :
A biomechanical model has been developed to quantify pull-to-stand forces and torques in both the upper and lower extremities. A 2-D sagittal plane segmental model was used. Data obtained from a force plate, instrumented pull-to-stand bar and video camera was used. Results of pull-to-stand compared to no pull-to-stand indicated a decrease in net moments at the ankle and knee joints and an increase in net moments at the shoulder and hip joints.
