Abstract :
A PC-based image system for measuring degree of fracture and union at lower end of radius has been developed. the system consists of three stages: preprocessing, restoration and measurement. In the first stage, histogram equalizat ion was utilized to normalize input rad i ograph and stretch contrast. A restoration algorithm was used in second stage. In measurement, the effect of soft-tissue on intensity of bone was removed, the mineral density of bone and osteotylus growth rate at fracture area were then measured. It provides the necessary information for clinic diagnos is and el iminates the subjective variations from the instability of human visual judgment.
