Abstract :
In this paper, we present work that is part of an ongoing project to develop a method of reconstructing the three-dimensional distribution of the absorption and scattering parameters of the Interior of the human body from Photon Migration Imaging (PMI) data. This paper will specifically discuss our work in solving the forward problem: the prediction of the data set given knowledge of the distribution of physical parameters within the object imaged. A satisfactory solution to the forward problem Is essential to any approach to developing a reconstruction technique. Specifically, we model photon migration using the diffusion equation.
