Abstract
We have used Monte Carlo techniques to design a two-dimensional detector array for PET. The detector array consists of an 8×4 matrix of BGO crystals coupled to 4 photomultipliers. The design included optimizing the optical cross-talk between detectors in terms of positioning accuracy and detection efficiency. Some preliminary results including the energy resolution, the positioning accuracy and the detection efficiency of the module are presented.
