Abstract :
The paper analyses dynamics of change of multipath components in urban environment. The simulations were run over very short routes, using very fine resolution and keeping the track of a mobile station every few centimetres. The main idea behind this work was to explore the “life expectance” of each multipath component, to look into the variation rate of the appearance and/or disappearance of each ray and finally, based on those results, to find out the size of the physical region covered by a certain multipath component. The analysis was performed using 3D ray tracing tool (developed at University of Bologna) for simulating multipath environments on different propagation scenarios within urban environment (along the street and around the corner) taking into account different modes of propagation (LOS, reflection and diffraction).
