Abstract :
An array of four bent monopoles is configured to achieve circular polarization (CP) at low elevation angles, which is a requirement for many satellite communications (SatCom) applications. By varying the vertical and horizontal arms of the bent monopole elements and the separation between monopoles, a significant amount of pattern control can be achieved to optimize the circular polarized gain for specific elevation angles. An array is designed for L-Band applications, demonstrating that low-elevation CP coverage could be achieved with a compact, low-profile structure.
