Abstract :
Terrestrial free space optical (FSO) connections are providing high capacity wireless data transmission up to the Gbit/s range. The propagation conditions of this technology are quite different by comparing it with the millimetre band radio signals. One of the most important impairment factors is the fog, what can be well characterized by its density. In this contribution some measurement results will be presented by three different partners of the COST IC0802 action. The results may lead to new channel models and also to the characterization of the geographical location dependent propagation conditions.
