Abstract :
This paper presents a historical overview and an outlook to the future of EM simulations using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. Due to enhancements of the FDTD algorithms and due to advances of the computer systems within recent years, large and complex EM problems can be simulated nowadays in short time. Recent extensions to the method are discussed and applied to state of the art structures.
