Abstract :
In this paper, the eccentricity of a large integrated lens antenna is optimised for a high-gain beam-steering antenna. With low permittivity lens materials, conventional integrated lens types, namely the extended hemispherical and the elliptical ones, have different characteristics when used in beam-steering applications. An optimal eccentricity is found that combines the advantages of the conventional lens types. The lenses are analysed with ray-tracing simulations using a simplified feed radiation pattern.
