Abstract :
In this paper a compact single/dual band monopole antenna has been developed for wireless communications applications. The antenna has the advantages of reconfigurable frequency bands and pattern using commercially available PIN diodes. The proposed antenna is capable of covering the frequencies in the range from 2.4 to 5.4 GHz, depending on the switching configuration. The tuning is realized by changing its effective CPW ground plane. Measurement results on a prototype antenna fully demonstrate the performance of the antenna.
