Abstract :
Body area networks will require antennas that can support on-body and off-body communication. This paper shows that a length of stripline could be used in order to communicate microwave frequency signals across the surface of the body. This approach yields a significant reduction in path loss compared to conventional approaches. The structure presented can also be reconfigured to enable off-body communication via an aperture coupled microstrip patch antenna.
