Abstract
Double Ridged Horn Antenna (DRHA) with exponential ridges is designed for the frequency range of 1-18 GHz and radiation pattern deficiencies are detected at the frequencies above 12 GHz. Surface current analysis of the antenna showed high concentration of currents on the antenna flares at frequencies with deteriorated pattern. A new solution is proposed for the pattern improvement by limiting the unwanted currents and using High Impedance Surface (HIS) structures. The realization of the HIS is proposed by using corrugations at the DRHA flares and radiation pattern improvement is observed.
