Abstract :
Hybrid broadcast broadband TV (HbbTV) is a European initiative for providing both broadcast and broadband/web content on a flat-panel screen in the living room. The HbbTV specification introduces only a few new technical components; it is mainly based on existing standards. In this respect, it represents a specific profile of available technologies, rather than a completely new technical development. This paper gives an overview over the architecture of HbbTV and the current status of the market introduction.
