Abstract :
In this paper consider into account the attenuation factors in free space and proper window with high transmission, we analyze and design an appropriate quantum dot infrared photodetector (QDIP) for receiver part in the free space optical (FSO) communication system. In our FSO photodetector designing, selection of proper wavelength, low dark current, high quantum efficiency, high responsivity and low bit error rate, are the main significant factors. Based on the mentioned parameters, QDIP with resonant cavity asymmetric multiple resonant tunneling barriers is designed as the suitable FSO photodetector.
