Abstract
Due to inevitable interference of speckle noise, it is important that the realistic model of existing noise to be included for precise segmentation in such empirical ultrasound images. In this paper a recently proposed method for extracting the breast lesions in ultrasound images, which is known as Disk Expansion method, is introduced and modified. The major concept of modification principle is formalized by including the more appropriate noise reduction method in the presence of the more realistic multiplicative and signal dependent characteristics of the speckle noise. Experimental results show the improvement of the percentage of true diagnosis in both of simulated and clinical images.
