Abstract :
MEEP is a freely available, open-source software package for finite-difference time-domain simulation of electromagnetic problems. Its main advantage is that it can be installed on any computer running a UNIX based operating system without licensing restrictions. It is also a very capable simulation engine that can be tailored to user´s needs. We will demonstrate its uses in our investigation of THz propagation in parallel-plate waveguides, resonators, and in coupling of THz radiation into waveguides. Some of these results will also be compared with measurements, where we generally observe very good agreement. Additionally, some practical advice on using MEEP will be provided.
